Gabriola Island is located in the traditional territories of the Snuneymuxw, a vibrant Indigenous Nation of the Coast Salish People.
Known as the ‘Isle of the Arts,’ Gabriola is home to over 70 artist studios and a roster of cultural events, including the Thanksgiving Studio Tour, summer Cultivate Festival, and year round concerts and theater events. You’ll also find artisans and plenty of local food producers at the Gabriola Farmers Market, held from May to October.
The island’s coastline and forests are also rich with attractions. Beaches include Gabriola Sands Provincial Park, also known as Twin Beaches, with its sandy stretches and mountain views, and secluded Whalebone Beach, popular for tidepooling. You can take in ocean views at the popular Surf Lodge and Pub near Orlebar Point, or find peace in the woods along one of Gabriola’s many serene trails.
