Lasqueti Island: Homalco, Tla’amin, and Klahoose Traditional Territory

February 8, 2021

Lasqueti Island lies in the Georgia Strait, north of French Creek on Vancouver Island and southwest of Texada Island. It is approximately 8 km wide and 22 km long, with 425 permanent residents who call Lasqueti home. Accessible only by foot passenger ferry service or by private boat or plane and on land by foot, bike, or taxi.

False Bay is the island’s ferry terminal and main settlement, with the outdoor Lasqueti Market taking place on Saturdays from June to September, plus a general store called False Bay Provisions, serving meals to go and all sorts of supplies for islanders.

A popular spot for paddling, experience the island’s coves, inlets and secluded beaches by kayak or canoe. At Squitty Bay Provincial Park near the island’s southeast tip, enjoy a mountain bike ride over gravel trails, a picnic spread while taking in the sea views.

Visit lasqueti.ca to learn more about how to reach and explore the island.
