Facilitated by RIEP’s Housing Advocacy Working Group, with the leadership of Robyn Mawhinney, Strathcona Regional District Electoral Area Director (Discovery Islands & Mainland Inlets, and Paul Brent, Capital Regional District Electoral Area Director (Southern Gulf Islands) – both Regional District Boards are calling on the Province to create a rural community-coastal islands affordable housing funding stream and supports to facilitate construction of projects suited with the unique constraints of rural housing.

The SRD and the CRD Boards issued Resolution letters on September 6 and October 9 to the Premier & Housing Minister on behalf of BC’s rural and coastal island communities.
