Connection Café – Mitigating & Adapting: Climate Change Economic Disruptions
March 27 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
[THIS EVENT IS NOW OVER]
Scroll down to view recap.
Are you prepared for the risk of climate-related disruptions to your coastal region business, community organization, or livelihood?
Over the past few years, many parts of British Columbia have been directly—and sometimes dramatically—affected by climate change. In 2023 alone , a record-breaking wildfire season, the closure of Highway 4, and windstorm power outages resulted in a disproportionate number of rural island and remote coastal communities being negatively impacted.
It’s very evident: We aren't immune to disaster by fire, flooding, or extreme weather events. These are economic disruptions affecting travel, staffing, communications, shipping and business operations at all levels.
Micro and small businesses across the islands and coast are even more impacted due to:
- Lack of coordinated approaches and attention due to our geographic dispersion
- Reliance on ferry transportation
- Limited, dependable communication infrastructure
Join us at the next Connection Cafe to learn from specialists in:
- Business Interruption Insurance
- Cyber Security & Inventory Protection
- Evacuation Best Practices
- Trauma Coping Strategies
- Climate Change Mitigation
Be informed now to protect yourself and your rural island/coastal region business, non-profit organization, and community from a climate-related disaster.
